The way in which we process personal data is in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The controller responsible for the use of your personal data is WPG Uitgevers B.V., Wibautstraat 133, 1097 DN Amsterdam (Netherlands Chamber of Commerce number 33134100).

Processing of personal data

In this privacy statement we explain which data we collect and the purposes for which we use them. We do this based on the different ways in which we obtain personal data.

The legal basis for this processing of your personal data by WPG is always the execution of the agreement with you, your consent and/or to satisfy a legitimate interest (such as the interest in being able to send marketing information and the prevention of fraud) from WPG or a third party.

WPG is always working to optimise and renew its products/services. We therefore also use the personal data we obtain for analysis purposes and to adjust and improve our services. We try to personalise our communication when possible and permitted. Personal data can also be used to prevent fraud and to secure our websites, apps, products and services.

In the context of sale and execution of subscriptions and agreements for delivery of products and services

WPG offers various subscriptions to publications and (in various online shops) offers products (such as publications, but also gift items, jewellery and accessories) and services (such as training courses and tests). WPG processes contact data (including name, address, telephone number and email address) and, if necessary, user data (for example, data you provide in the context of a training course) and transaction data (including bank and payment details) for entering into and executing the agreement with you, to be able to deliver these products and services and to keep you informed of the progress thereof. The legal basis for these processing operations is the execution of the agreement with you.


Visiting a WPG website

WPG offers various websites. If you use WPG websites, we collect personal data so that we can be of assistance to you. For example, we use cookies and scripts to enable better functioning of the websites. On some websites, tracking cookies and scripts are placed by us and by third parties in order to show you ads that are tailored to your interests and to analyse your surfing behaviour.

Some WPG websites use cookies and similar technologies to recognise and track you online, monitor your click and mouse behaviour, and create profiles based on your behaviour on the website. Third parties also place cookies on our websites. In the WPG cookie statement, you can read which cookies are placed for which purposes and by which parties.

The legal basis for these processing operations is your consent (with the exception of functional cookies and cookies with minor consequences for your privacy).


Participation in online promotions and competitions

WPG can offer the opportunity to participate in online promotions and competitions through various channels. WPG uses the data that WPG receives for the execution of the online promotion or competition. WPG can also use the data you provide in this context to carry out targeted advertising or to make you an offer, if you have consented to this.


Participation in online tests, surveys and training courses

On certain WPG websites, such as the website of Psychologie Magazine, Yoga Magazine and Happinez, it is possible to participate in online tests, surveys and training courses. When you participate in a test, survey, or training course, the data that you enter will be used to carry out the test, survey, or training course. The data can also be used for research, for articles in the relevant publication or for scientific research. Depending on the test, special data such as health data may be processed, if you consent to this. To execute training courses, we can make use of third parties with which we have made agreements regarding the protection of personal data. These parties sometimes also have their own privacy statements, which are referenced when you participate in a training course or which can be consulted on their websites.

If you participate in an online test or training course, we may also contact you for other offers or send a newsletter or other marketing communications. We do this based on your consent or, if you have purchased a training course or other product or service from us for a fee, based on legitimate interest.


Participation in forums

On certain WPG websites, such as, it is possible to leave messages on a forum. The information you enter will be used to be displayed on the relevant forum.



WPG processes click behaviour on a WPG website in response to a newsletter that you have received, to improve its products/services and to be able to advertise in a targeted way, if you have given your consent for this.


Creating an account

On some WPG websites, it is possible to create an account. To create an account, enter your name and email address and possibly your subscriber number (your login details). With an account, you only have to log in on a subsequent visit and will not have to enter your login details again. It can also show if you are a subscriber and therefore have access to certain services, discounts or parts of the website that are only available to subscribers. We can also, based on your login details, offer you the opportunity to post messages on a forum and adjust the website to your personal preferences. The basis for these processing operations is the execution of the agreement with you.

If data within the account is used for research and analysis to improve our services, the basis is WPG’s legitimate business interest in being able to improve its services.

We can enrich your login details with information that we have from you as a subscriber or newsletter recipient. We do this to be able to recognise you as a subscriber or newsletter recipient. For instance, we can grant you a discount on products or services for which you are eligible as a subscriber or newsletter recipient. On some websites we can enrich your login details with information that we obtain from you through your use of the website. If this is the case, we will inform you about this before you create an account or ask you for your consent separately if required.


Use of apps

WPG offers various apps. Depending on the app you use, we process certain personal data. Insofar as the use of personal data is not described in this general privacy statement, you will be informed about this in the app you use. Cookies are also used in the apps. In the cookie statement, you can read which cookies are used for which purposes and by which parties.


Use of social media

WPG can be found on various social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube. If you follow us on social media, we may gain access to part of your profile information. This depends on your settings on these social media platforms.  WPG can keep track of how often a certain journalistic article has been shared and “liked” via social media, to analyse the reach of an article. The basis for this processing is WPG’s legitimate interest in being able to improve its services.

WPG can use (marketing) services from third parties, such as Facebook. By doing so, WPG can focus on a specific target group on social media. An example of this is Facebook Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences. To this end, WPG can provide hashed email addresses to third parties so that these parties can approach people in a targeted way for WPG marketing campaigns. In certain cases, WPG offers you the option of logging in via Facebook for certain services. To this end, WPG obtains contact information from Facebook such as name and email address and possibly also public profile information.  If this is the case, when logging in via Facebook, you will see which data we obtain via Facebook. Market research

WPG regularly conducts market research. If you wish to participate in market research, the data you provide will be processed by WPG in order to improve its products and services based on your consent. WPG only processes data that you provide when participating in market research to the extent that this is necessary to obtain results from the research. Results of market research can no longer be traced to individual persons.  WPG can use the services of third parties to conduct market research. These third parties sometimes also have their own privacy statement. If you decide to participate in market research, you will be informed in advance whether such a privacy statement applies.


Contacting customer service

You can contact WPG customer service through various channels, via or via other methods. Please look for these on the various WPG websites. If you contact our customer service, we may ask you for certain contact data such as name, address, email address and telephone number. We use these data to process your enquiry and save them to assist you at a later stage, for the execution of the agreement with you. We also use the data to improve our products and services, based on WPG’s legitimate interest in improving its services.


  1. Communication from WPG

WPG likes to keep you informed of news, events and promotions from WPG and from WPG’s partners. We do this by email, but also with direct marketing mailings or telemarketing. This will be tailored as much as possible to your preferences and interests when they are known to us and you have given your consent for this. WPG processes contact data (including name and email address), date of birth and possible interest data (whether or not based on website behaviour) for email newsletters.


You can sign up for communications from WPG in various ways, for example by subscribing to one of the WPG newsletters. After a purchase via email, such as entering into a subscription or a purchase in one of the online shops, WPG can also keep you informed of similar products or services, unless you have indicated that you would not appreciate this when you made the purchase.  We can keep you informed up to two years after the termination of your subscription or after your last purchase via the online shop. You can always easily unsubscribe from WPG’s communications. Every message you receive from WPG describes how you can do so.

Group of enterprises

WPG Uitgevers B.V. can exchange personal data with its subsidiary/subsidiaries in the context of responsible, efficient and effective business operations, in particular for the following activities:


  • Execution of agreements (and subscriptions)
  • Marketing activities, including (targeted) marketing activities to maintain or expand a relationship with you
  • The execution of business processes and internal management
  • Security
  • Compliance with legal obligations


WPG can use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement, for example technical service providers and delivery services but also partners who provide services such as training courses in the context of events. These third parties hereby act as processors for WPG and we ensure that these parties offer sufficient guarantees with regard to technical and organisational security measures. WPG enters into a processing agreement with third parties that act as processors for WPG, which states among other things that they will only process personal data on behalf of WPG.



When you participate in an online test, the results of this test can be provided to research institutes for scientific research in an anonymised form or, where this is not possible, in a pseudonymised form.

If you have won a prize through a competition or promotion, we can send your contact data to the partner who provides the prize, so that the prize can be sent to you.

WPG also enters into partnerships with advertiser networks and media agencies. For their online advertising activities, these parties place cookies on your equipment based on your consent. Read more about this in our cookie statement and the cookie statements of these parties.



For the remainder, WPG only provides data to third parties with your prior consent or if we are obligated to do so by law and regulations, if required to do so as a result of a lawsuit and/or in the event that we consider it necessary for the protection of our own interests.

WPG will take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss or unlawful processing. For instance, we secure our systems and applications at a level that, given the current state of the art, is sufficient to prevent unauthorised access to, modification, disclosure or loss of personal data. As part of this, WPG enters into processing agreements with suppliers that it engages and that process personal data on its behalf, in which appropriate obligations are imposed on these suppliers in order to guarantee the security of these data.

Review and correction

If you would like an overview of all your personal data that are processed by WPG, you can request this via You can also request amendment or correction of your data via this email address. WPG will respond to such requests as quickly as possible, but at the latest within one month, unless an extension of that period is justified by law.



You can at any time object to the use of personal data for direct marketing and/or (further) receipt of (certain) marketing information by sending this request in writing to WPG Uitgevers, Postbus 611, 1000 AP Amsterdam or by email via The emails that WPG sends include the option to unsubscribe. If you use this, you will no longer receive such messages. You cannot unsubscribe from information messages.



If you would like WPG to delete your personal data and/or your account, you can request this by sending an email to It is possible that some personal data will be stored by WPG after the deletion request, for example if this is necessary for the processing of orders placed or if there is a legal obligation to store the data.


Restriction of processing

If you have legitimate reasons to request a restriction of the processing, for example because you dispute the accuracy of the personal data that WPG processes, or you have lodged an objection against the processing of personal data by WPG, you can request this by sending an email to


Data portability

If the processing of personal data by WPG is based on your consent and is carried out by automated processes, you have the right to request that the relevant personal data that you have provided to WPG be obtained in a structured, conventional and machine-readable form. Withdrawing consent

If a processing of your personal data is based on your (explicit) consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time, without this affecting the legality of the processing based on the consent before the withdrawal thereof.



If you have a complaint about the use of personal data by WPG, you have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.


  1. Retention periods

Personal data are not stored for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which they were collected or processed. WPG sets retention periods for each purpose and category of data. WPG takes the decisions of the Dutch Data Protection Authority into account when determining retention periods.


  1. Transfers to countries outside the EEA

Your personal data will only be stored or processed outside the EEA by WPG or by processors engaged by WPG if this is in accordance with the applicable regulations for the transfer of personal data to countries outside the EEA.

Are you not yet 16 years old? Then ask your parent(s) or legal representative(s) for permission to use our products and services.


Persons who have not yet reached the age of 16 (minors) may only purchase products and services from WPG with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. In the interests of the minor, the minor’s parent(s) or legal representative(s) should read this privacy statement and the cookie statement and may exercise the rights of the relevant minor in place of the minor. WPG advises parents or legal guardians to monitor a minor’s use of WPG products and services and to make them aware of how their personal data can be used based on this privacy statement and the cookie statement.
